Hi, Jeremy—I just wanted to let you know how helpful your video lectures and notes have been for me. I’ve been using them for Ch I since the middle of first semester. I decided that for second semester I would change to a schedule of pre-teaching material the week before students attempt it. Tuesday was our week 1 and I was really impressed with how engaged my students were with answering questions/translating/filling in the blanks to the notes. I think having this extra support gives them a much greater chance of success this semester. The parents are also glad to have the weekly quizzes to give their students accountability. Thanks for all the time you’ve put into making this easy to use and thorough.

Ch I Director

Thank you so much for these resources. I have been very hands off with Latin, however, directing Challenge has forced my hand. I am so very thankful for your videos and notes, quizes and answer keys. All you provided helped me to feel prepared to lead community and help students.

Thanks!

Ch I Director

Thank you so much, I used your program this year every week. It helped me a lot being a new director!

Ch I Director

I have been such a blessed and grateful user of Latin Lead Learner in my Challenge II classes for the past two years.   WOW!!!  Your work has enabled me to feel excited and confident in the classroom with the class.

Ch II Director

Thank you so much for your resources!! They were a very valuable tool for my class and myself and I only wish I had found them sooner!

As a first-year director, your videos/worksheets were a God-send!!!  THANK YOU!!!! :) :) :)

Ch II Director

I wanted to send a quick note to give you—pass on to you from the parents of my class, really—some feedback.  My 4 Challenge II kids have been in Latin since Ch A and this week I did mid-semester progress reports with the moms (separately).  Both other moms made a point to tell me how well Latin is working for their students this year.  One mom said she asked her daughter, “What, did you get ahold of my answer key somehow?  What’s going on?”  and her daughter said, “No Mom, I just get it!  Mrs. Director explains the lesson in class, so I understand it when I’m doing the exercises!”  The other mom said that her one kid particularly has been so thankful for the study notes that we fill out in class.  These are the students who told me at the beginning of the year, “We only like playing games in Latin!”  They are seeing how beneficial it is to learn the material together in class before tacking the exercises.  I gave you credit and just wanted to say thank you, from them and from me.  I continue to watch my video for class each week and get up to speed *just* before my students!  It has been a blessing.

Ch II Director

Thank you for your resources this year. It was so helpful for me as I directed Ch3, and for my daughter in ChA, it was also a wonderful resource.

Ch III Director

Your program was just what my daughter needed for Ch 3.

FAQs

Do you preview the material or review the Henle Latin material?

If you follow the guide, the students preview the material at home, and then they come to class for discussion over the material.  While I believe this is a great way to learn many subjects, I have not found this beneficial with Henle Latin for several reasons.  Thus, what I do is preview the material, and then the students go home and work on the exercises over the lessons we learned.  If you want the students to preview the material, the resources could still be very helpful.  You could give it to them blank and go over it in class the next week, or you could go over it in class and see how much they are able to understand.

Will this be helpful?

I don’t know.  In doing this since 2020, about 55% of those who previewed the resources signed up.  Many then said it was extremely helpful for them. However, that also means 45% decided not to use my resources.  Thus, this may be a great resource for you, or you may be in the camp that needs something else.  That is why I let you “try before you buy.”

How do I cover all of the resources on your notes in the allotted time?

You must decide what is best for your class, and sometimes that may mean skipping some examples.  Some weeks the topic may be so important that you think you should give a little extra time to the lesson.  Especially in Challenge I and II, there is a lot of information to cover to keep with the pace of the guide(s).
